A Million Little Pieces...

I knew when I listened to the voicemail it wasn't good news. Usually, when people have bad news, they just leave their name with a more formal sounding voice. I didn't want to call Heather back, because I knew what she had to say.

I was right. Destiny had passed away. She passed in her sleep. Her little 4 week old body couldn't fight off the contagious Upper Respiratory Virus from the shelter. Her foster Mom gave her antibiotics 3 times per day and fed her formula from a bottle with hope she'd fight it off, but it wasn't meant to be.

Maybe her Mom and 8 siblings were calling to her from the The Rainbow Bridge. No doubt they were waiting for her when she arrived. It must've been quite a reunion.

Aww hell. I can sugar coat this with talk of the "Rainbow Bridge", but my heart is broken into a million little pieces.

"Run to your family, little Destiny" You'll forever be one of my most memorable rescues.

This is indeed very sad news. At least she can be with her mom and siblings. Maybe that was her 'destiny', and since it couldn't be here with us, it must be elsewhere... I am so sorry to hear this.

*hugs*

I am sooooooooo sorry:( I cannot help but to cry for her and you and Heather and for all of my own fur babies waiting for me(I hope) at the rainbow bridge. I have to believe that tonite she is cuddled up cozy and warm with her mom and siblings....they needed her. That is the only thing that can make something this heartbreaking bearable.
Hugs Crystal

Thanks to you and Heather for giving Destiny a chance at life, and that she spent her precious remaining days in a loving home instead of at the lonely shelter.

Oh, Beth... I'm so very sorry. This post just made my eyes sweat a whole bunch. You know what I've been through with Yum Yum the past 2 weeks and I feel your pain.

Just think that Destiny had a chance at happiness, however short-lived, and she was able to feel and experience love instead of the coldness of a cage.

Her huge spirit was just too big for that little body. She and Yum Yum are probably playing together somewhere over the bridge while they wait for us.

Lots of hugs.

Yep, I'm crying my eyes out right now. Heather, Beth you did all that you could. I can't imagine how much pain you are both feeling right now. Hugs to you guys. It just wasn't meant to be for some reason.

So sad... thinking of her, I just had to scroll back to the photo of her and Kole together... she definitely had a warm, loving home during her final days - thanks to wonderful people like you and Heather.

OHH!! Poor little beautiful Destiny. Her family was calling for her... they wanted her back with them. Their little family is now complete and happily playing together. Don't get discouraged Beth, she is happy and safe with her family, they will take good care of her now. XO. You will be missed and thought of often.

Thank God her final days were in a peaceful, loving place and not at that shelter. You did all that could be done and I bet she felt it.

Oh Beth I am so sorry to read this sad news, but it helps to know that Destiny had angels like you and your friend Heather to look after her when she was alone and afraid, after she lost her family. She was loved completely in the short time she was here and that is important.

Thank you for posting the link to the rainbow bridge, I had not read it before and found it comforting. I wish I knew about it when my Max died so young this past March.

Just imagine how many little souls await you with love :-)

At least she got a chance, you know?

I used to get sad when sickly kittens I fed in the nursery passed away, but sometimes there's only so much you can do, only so many times a vet can hydrate or give antibiotics to a sick kitten before it lets go.

As long as it gets a fighting chance, which you guys provide.

Too sad a story for this tortie lover. I sent a photo of the family to my niece as part of her birthday message in August. Then had to email my bro later to tell him the bad news. 10 innocent lives. We know they are all in fur and feather heaven with all our loved ones. ;( (:
